How many tenses are there in English?


PRESENT:

1. Simple present with Verb BE:

….Olguita is very happy now that she has a boyfriend


2. Simple present (with ordinary verbs):

….Juan plays soccer


3. Present continuous or progressive:

….Mayra is studying music this semester


4. Present perfect simple:

….Carolina has visited Miami several times


5. Present perfect continuous:

….Jordan has been talking since he entered the classroom.


PAST:


6. Past simple with BE:

….German was unhappy in his last relationship.


7. Past simple (with ordinary verbs):

….Gabriela went to Miami last year.


8. Past continuous:

….Ruth was taking a shower when Mr. Huane called her.


9. Past perfect:

….Miguel Angel had read “The DaVinci Code” twice when he discovered “Angels and Demons”.


10. Past perfect continuous.

….Cinthya had been taking a shower when Harry rang the doorbell of her house.


FUTURE:
